Bloggers are already loving the Google plus for many reasons. Here are couple of more reasons I think every blogger should have Google + profile.
Author Information
I am really excited about author information feature. With this feature you can link your posts with your Google plus profile and your profile picture will appear in the search results next to your posts.
How cool it is. Isn’t?
This is a great opportunity for writers to brand themselves in the search results and drive traffic to their blogs.
Impact of +1 in Search Results
+1 works differently then compare to Facebook like button. Although +1 does not show up in your Google + stream as like button does, it is hidden under another tab and you have the option to show / hide that tab in your Google plus profile.
- You can see all your +1’s under one place
- Your picture will show up in search results to your friends
In my opinion this will heavily impact click through ratio (CTR) in the search results. Currently top 2 or 3 results in the top ten gets the most clicks. With the addition of +1 in the search results I guess CTR will vary between top ten results depending on friend’s recommendations.
For example, you searched a keyword “Google plus training” and following results came up.
Which link you are most likely to check out first, top result or the third one which is recommended / shared by one of your friends?
I would prefer which is already shared by my friend over a number one result appears in the search results.
Because of this reason I am predicting that CTR will vary a lot between top ten search results now depending on this factor and chances are lower results can get increased CTR if users can see their friends have recommended it.
One really important point here that you can hide +1 tab under your Google plus profile but your all +1’s will be public / visible in search results and you don’t have the option of hide your +1’s appearing in the search results.
